Ron Carter
Ron Carter is a 1999 Birmingham graduate of the DeVos Urban Leadership Initiative. He is a former DeVos Initiative program director and has provided training in the personal & ministry assessment and core values (Balance) modules of the Initiative since 2002. Ron continues to consult for the program’s evaluation process and other components of the training. He has served in urban and youth ministry for over 15 years.
Ron earned his B.S. in Social Science at the University of Montevallo in 1987. He's an ordained minister and holds a Masters of Education degree from Covenant College in Chattanooga, TN. The Tuskegee, Alabama native served as head administrator for Restoration Academy, a private Christian school in Birmingham. Three years prior, he was program director to Project Dads, a mentoring and training program for teenage fathers. Additionally, he was an associate minister at Harvest Community Church. Ron addressed hundreds of students, youth workers and leaders across America. He and his wife, Darlene, have two children and reside in Birmingham, Alabama.
